PandoraJam Integrates Pandora with Your Mac’s Desktop
Pandora is a pretty great music player, but it doesn’t give the best possible experience in-browser. Free app PandoraJam integrates it with your Mac’s desktop, providing Growl support, Last.fm integration, instant message status updates, Apple remote support, and even recording to iTunes.
If you’re a heavy Pandora user, you can take much more advanatage of the service with PandoraJam. With it, you can get Growl notifications for each track change, scrobble tracks to Last.fm, update your iChat or Adium status, and even control it with your Apple remote. And, of course, you don’t need to keep another ad-ridden browser tab open just to listen to music.
PandoraJam also integrates with iTunes, allowing you to record songs and dump them, fully tagged, into a playlist. The songs are low enough bitrate, though, that this feature is little more than a minor convenience, so you can play those songs on demand when you want, but you’ll probably want to get them with other means for long term storage. PandoraJam also integrates with AirTunes, letting you stream your music wirelessly to speakers connected to an AirPort Express base station.
PandoraJam is a free download for Mac OS X only. The free version limits the number of songs you can record and stream over AirTunes, but you can just restart the recording and streaming with the click of a button. Of course, you could always stream the audio with previously mentioned RaopX as well, with no interruptions. The full version costs $15.
