Shigeru Miyamoto, is on stage now talking about the 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. The piece of music that was performed was from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. It’s actually pretty awesome to hear the music played by an orchestra. For the Anniversary they are releasing Legend of Zelda games for all consoles. One is going to be a Release of Links Awakening and for the 3DS there is going to be next week The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.  There is going to be a Normal mode and Quest mode.  And in September for the DSi they are releasing The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords.  And finally for the Wii they are releasing Skyward Sword at the end of the year with a special Edition Gold Wii mote. For the 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda they are going to be have symphony concerts in each region to celebrate. Additionally they are preparing 2 new music cd’s and will be available to the first few who register the game on Club Nintendo.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Nintendo’s Global President Satoru Iwata just came on and is speaking about how Nintendo has changed how you play games. He is saying in the hardware field they haven’t been as good as they could have and that the new platform will provide a great experience for more than just the casual players. He says we are going to change how we “see” games.  The new console will launch next year.  Iwata says several of the franchises that we know well will be in 3D such as Mario Kart, Star Fox, Luigi’s Mansion, Kid Icarus and more.

Kid Icarus: Uprising

The President of Nintendo of America is now up speaking about the advancement of gaming. The new console along with the 3DS are aiming for something for everyone.  Mario Kart is the first in the line up. The game now features gliding, underwater modes and many new customizations. It will be released this Holiday Season 2011. Star Fox 64 3D is now going to feature the ability to play the game using the hardware’s gyroscope and accelerometer instead of the buttons.  They are also going to have a feature where it will use the camera to capture your reaction in multiplayer.  Super Mario for the console has been made completely from scratch he says. We see the return of the White Fire Mario, Raccoon Flying suit and our favorite old foes. Kid Icarus: Uprising is also coming in 3D.  They will feature a multiplayer mode where you can fight friends and new players to enjoy the game in a new way. It will also have 3 vs 3 player mode and use augmented game cards.

Luigi is also returning in Lugi’s Mansion 2 for the 3DS. It will feature 3 new mansions to explore. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries will debut, along with Sonic, Ace Combat, Tetris, Cave Store, Driver Renegade, Pac Man, Tekken 3D, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and much more. Paper Mario is also coming out with a trailer being released on the Nintendo eStore.

For the first time ever we see Pokemon in 3D. They will have Pokedex in 3D that will allow you to trade, collect, and much more.  You will be able to us the AR to take pictures with your Pokemon and is available on the 3DS in the eStore.

Finally we get to the new console called Wii U.  The new controller is a tablet like controller with a screen on it, kind of like a DS. It lets you switch from TV to the controller for gameplay. The new console will let you play it anywhere, make video calls, and share content everywhere.  All Wii products will be backwards compatible as well. It will feature a rumble pack, cameras, microphone, accelerometer, and L/R buttons now. This new controller has a touch screen and can be used to play games however it is not a portable console. Wii U will  include a new web browser and the ability to watch HD TV on it.

There’s confirmation that we’ll be able to enjoy playing a new Smash Brothers Title on the Wii U. There is also a new form of multiplayer called Wii Chase. Where you’ll be able to view your enemies that are attacking you via a built-in camera, along with Shield Pose as a new defensive stance. Lego City Stories is a confirmed launch title for the Wii U.

Other titles such as Batman Arkam City, Tekken, Assassins Creed, and EA Sports will be available on launch along side Darksiders 2, Dirt 2, Aliens Colonial Masters, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online, Metro Last Night, and Ninja Gaiden 3.
